Danelle Spence, MA, R.Psych.
Registered Psychologist
Danelle is a Registered Psychologist with a passion for psychology rooted in over 10 years experience working with children, adolescents and young women. Danelle has worked as both a teacher and a counsellor in elementary and junior high schools, where she eagerly immersed herself in the adolescent culture. Through these challenging roles, she discovered her passion for working with young girls, and proceeded to develop school learning centres, self-esteem workshops and body image in-services. Before joining Juno House, Danelle worked in private practice, as well as the Calgary Counselling Centre, working specifically with those struggling with eating disorders, self-harm behaviours, anxiety and depression.
Danelle completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at the University of Calgary, where she concentrated her course work on brain behaviour, physiology, and neuropsychology. She then went on to pursue an Education degree before completing a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from Gonzaga University. In addition, Danelle has completed her EMDR certification.
A key component to Danelle’s counselling technique is through active participation, genuine regard, empathy and humour. She believes that young women are complex and often unaware of the many factors that may be influencing them. Going beyond the targeting of symptoms, Danelle aims to help individuals find meaning in their lives, strengthening their relationship with themselves and the people around them.

Raechelle Paperny, Ph.D., R.Psych.
Registered Psychologist
Raechelle is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2000. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University, and both a Master of Science and Doctorate in Developmental Psychology from the University of Calgary. Her graduate research specialized in the area of attachment.
Prior to joining Juno House, Raechelle began her therapeutic practice working with foster and adopted children along with their families. It was here that she first applied attachment theory to helping individuals and families heal past trauma and form healthy bonds. With two young children at the time, Raechelle left clinical practice to teach psychology at both the University of Calgary and at Mount Royal University. She also conducted psychological assessments and served on the Executive Board of a local social service agency. However, the desire to return to clinical practice beckoned and brought her to Juno House.
As the mother of a teenage daughter she is particularly attuned to the fascinating and complex inner-lives of girls and young women. It is a dynamic and often confusing developmental period in a girl's life that brings along its own challenges and pitfalls. They need adaptive communication and reflective skills otherwise they are left unprepared to resolve both inner- and real-world conflict. With an open heart and an open mind, Raechelle establishes an atmosphere of warmth, security, and acceptance. With this as the foundation, her clients can feel safe to explore, reflect, and ultimately repair emotional difficulties. It gives her great pleasure to see young women develop greater self-awareness, confidence, and voice to express themselves!
Raechelle's passion and therapeutic focus continues to be in the area of attachment as it applies to depression, anxiety, eating disorders and self-harm. Her approach has been enhanced by her interest in the field of neurodevelopment and the completion of EMDR Level 1. As a former dancer, movement remains a big part of her life. She is a runner, cyclist, yoga practitioner, and doesn't need to be asked twice to "bust a move"! She is drawn towards mind/body work and brings that awareness and approach to her practice.
